History

The Chinese University of Hong Kong started conducting research on Chinese Medicine in early 70's and has been the pioneer and leader in this field among the tertiary institutions in Hong Kong . For fostering a comprehensive development of Chinese medicine research, the University expanded the renowned Chinese Medicinal Material Research Centre (CMMRC) into the Institute of Chinese Medicine (ICM) in 2000 and established six sections under ICM. ICM endeavours to conduct scientific researches to modernize, standardize, commercialize and internationalize Chinese medicine, in order to bring it to the international arena, as well as to benefit the patients at large.
